Give me two minutes?
Let's build a new habit.
This one will be short. I used to be the biggest perfectionist, sometimes afraid to start things until I knew all the factors. Or, worse, I’d abandon projects because I didn’t feel confident.
Recently, as I’ve gotten busier and busier, I’ve realized that you just have to start.
So give yourself two minutes.
This is an idea I borrowed from one of my heroes, James Clear: "Many situations in life are similar to going on a hike: the view changes once you start walking.” Basically, it's OK to start even if you don't have all the answers. If you have a strong foundation, you will pick up the experience and tools you need along the way.
So, just start walking.
My challenge to you this week is to give yourself two minutes. Go try that thing you want to do for two minutes, and then you can stop. You’ll be surprised how a little change can encourage you without overwhelming you to the point that you never come back to it.
You are more than capable of doing pretty much anything for two minutes: Run for two minutes and stop. If you enjoyed it, you’ll lace up your shoes another day, confident that you can go for at least 120 strong seconds.
Journal for two minutes. Meditate. Read a page of a book. Take a Duolingo lesson. Chop up some veggies for meal prep. Take two minutes for yourself, and it could just become the springboard you need for a new habit.
Just. Start. Walking.
I’ll be right there with you. Have an amazing rest of your week.
