Just keep spinning.

You are growing. Trust me.

It’s pretty easy to tune out when people talk about their workouts, but I promise that this is NOT what this week’s newsletter is about.

However, this story was born in a spin studio.

Growth is happening even if you can’t see it.

@OLIVIAwitherite

Before the pandemic, I used to go to a cycle studio in San Francisco … and I was bad. I was fine with that fact because I was still getting a great workout, but when the leaderboard popped up at the end of the class, I’d always be toward the bottom.

In the last year, I’ve started to work out more and do more strength training. However, I was pretty discouraged. I’ve been trying to better myself and have been showing up consistently. But I wasn’t seeing tangible results. My body looked the same despite me showing up all the time to the gym. I didn’t feel or look stronger.

But about a month ago, for the first time since before the pandemic, I started going to spin again. And when I poured it all into a workout, I looked up at the end of the class and found myself way up toward the top of the leaderboard. I know it’s small, but I was thrilled.

This is not a story about me being a model gym rat (I’m far from it) or the epitome of health (I am eating a piece of pizza right now.)

No, this is a story of encouragement.

Sometimes, when you’re working hard at your job or in school, it may not feel like you’re making any progress even when you’re putting in the hours and effort.

If I learned anything through this silly spin story, it’s to keep showing up.

Growth is happening even if you can’t see it.

Keep going and have a great week. I’ll be back next week with a more tactical post.
